Way to Remove the Old Lower arm bushing

There are many ways to remove the old bushings. You can push it out directly if you have a press. Or you can use jig saw, reciprocating saw, and even a simple hacksaw to cut it out. Then, please cut out the rubber center to make room to work inside the ring. Once the rubber center is out, you can use the saw to cut the bushing ring. Please do not worry. The ring is soft aluminum, and it will be easy to cut. Just be sure not to cut too far or cut into the suspension bushing itself. You just need to cut ring in one way because it will be break easily. Using a press, break the ring and bend it inward to loosen the tension. Then the ring will slide out easily. It is not necessary to set the on fire to melt away the rubber. You can just remove these with a hammer.
Place the Lower arm bushing on a bench vice or over a large socket so that there is room underneath it to push the bushing out. After hitting it hard with a hammer, the bushing should have sunken into the Lower arm bushing about a 1/2 inch or so. Don't be shy, give it a good whack. Now, clamp the Lower arm bushing in the vice and use a socket to drive the bushing through the rest of the way. Now you should be able to just grab the bushing and yank it out by hand. If there is still a problem on pushing the bushing out, you can trim away the rubber lip on one side to help it go through if you think it should be. Now you just have completed the job of removing your old bushings.

Owning Good Control Arm Bushing

Engine bushing is made up of a metal sleeve outside, a durable rubber bushing and a metal sleeve inside. It's connected to the ends of the control arm because it is supported to the structure of the car. Without it, the metal ends of the control arm may be mounted to the frame and cause the contact between metal and metal. And it may cause major clunking as the suspension maneuvers over bumps and other deviations on the roads. The bushing acts as a hinged dampener to cushion the suspension and provide a more manageable and quiet ride. Most front-wheel drive cars that employ struts only use a lower control arm, but many trucks and SUVs have an upper and lower control arm.Upper control arm bushing is a little easier to affect than rubber bushing. Peeking through the wheel well of each front wheel usually gives you a clear look to the bushings. In some conditions, you can also affect them from the engine compartment and look down on each side of the engine by the wheel.

For rubber cracks and dry rots over time, look for signs of this symptom although if it's just starting to dry rot and crack on the outer edges, it doesn't mean it needs to be exchanged. The control arm ends should be perfectly centered inside the bushing to buffer it around the full diameter. A good bushing will weaken on the side that endures the most stress from the suspension. The lower control arm bushings are usually encased between the end of the control arm and the side of the car frame, making them difficult to see. A large pry bar can be used to pry the control arm one way or the other. A good bushing returns the control arm to its original position when the pry bar is removed. Compromised bushing causes the control arm to stay in the position the pry bar moved it toward.

Make Sure Of Your Car With No Problem

A powerful engine will be of no use if coupled with a bad suspension system. Therefore, both the engine and the suspension system must work together to provide good running performance and comfortable ride. Automotive Parts manufacturers, like EKKO have collected resources for research and development, not only engine systems, but suspension components, they spent considerable period of time to design reliable automotive parts, like strut mount. The Japanese automaker designed it to provide a pivot point and area on which to mount a car’s strut. Often found in compact cars, the mount is situated at the top of the strut assembly. When struts are installed at the rear part of the car, these struts provide steering pivot and suspension mounting for the wheels. Usually made of rubber, each strut mount has a bearing at the center to let the strut to turn left or right, depending on the steering. A strut mount is usually exchanged along with the whole strut assembly.

Strut mounts will be worn out easily for its regular wear and tear. Two ominous signs of a strut mount needing replacement are steering difficulty and a knocking noise while going over humps. A damaged mount may affect the whole suspension system and cause other car problems. So, car owners should pay attention on replacing their strut mount which requires use of a spring compressor. Using the compressor is a must since the mounts hold the springs under hundreds of pounds of pressure, and thus, is needed to prevent any damage. The appearance of a car can only be achieved if all the systems, like chassis parts are equipped with quality automotive parts.

Stabilizer Sway Bar Link On A Vehicle

The function of stabilizer link is to keep the body of the vehicle flat while moving force from one side to another. The stabilizer bar connects the pairs of wheels, while stabilizer links hook this larger piece with arms that go up to the wheels themselves. Stabilizer sway bar link improves handling and shock absorption, keeping the car from swaying too much while you turn which could lead to loss of control. Adding stabilizer links between the main bars and the wheels refines this process of control, so cars handle tight. When you go into a turn now, the front suspension member of the outside of the turn gets pushed upward. The arm of the sway bar gets pushed upward, and this applies torsion to the rod. The torsion them moves the arm at the other end of the rod, and this causes the suspension on the other side of the car to compress as well. The car's body tends to stay flat in the turn. Without having a stabilizer bar, you may face a lot of trouble with body roll in a turn. With too much stabilizer bar, you may lose independence between the suspension members on both sides of the car. When one wheel hits a bump, the stabilizer bar transmits the bump to the other side of the car, which is not what you want? The ideal is to find a setting that reduces body roll but does not hurt the independence of the tires.

Place Driveshaft Boot On Your Car

The car comes with rubber boots to protect against dirt and water ingress and keep the CV joint running well for a long time. Getting the boots on without broking them can be tricky though if you don’t use the proper technique. To fit the boot properly, you should be careful and don’t hurry. Use a liberal covering of silicone oil on the dog-bone end of the drive shaft and place the boot over the end work the cover over slowly poking one side of the pin through the hole in the top of the boot. Slowly pull the boot to stretch it around the dog-bone and other side of the pin. The Driveshaft boots on a Gold Wing keeps grease and lubrication around the joint that connects the drive shaft to the transmission, and it keeps dust and debris from entering and degrading the joint. If do not repair it, a torn boot can result in serious damage to the drive shaft components. The Gold Wing has always been a shaft-driven motorcycle, and although the styles have changed slightly over the years, the same basic steps apply when changing a drive shaft boot.

Tell You How I Replace My Strut Mounts

After driving 102,000 miles, I replaced the shock mounting, tie rod ends, and stabilizer links. Here I will share some tips that I get. First, before starting, get the parts that you will need; second, get the tools you will need for a safe and easier time. A breaker bar, socket set, strut spring compressor, and hammer will be needed; third, raise car, remove wheel and support with jack stands. Open hood, locate strut tower. Loosen the 2 nuts and 1 bolt-circled in red- but do not remove; forth, now remove the 2 nuts-red bracket-with your breaker bar and21mm socket and pound out the bolts -green arrows-you will need a punch to knock the bolts all the way through. Do not twist the bolts out as they are splinted as are the bolts. Now remove the nuts/bolt from the top of the strut and remove strut from car.

Fifth, this is what you will be disassembling after you compress the spring enough that there is play between the strut mount and spring; sixth, this is the correct and safe way to disassemble. With spring compressed make a mark for reassembly-white dot-lining up spring/insulator/seat/mount. Place inner socket on shaft of strut to hold it from turning then outer socket over it. Hold inner socket and turn outer with wrench to remove nut. Reassembly is reverse using your new mount. Make sure spring sits in its perch on strut bottom and notch on insulator is against end of springs coil at top. Line up your orientation marks then tighten nut to 50 ft. lbs and remove spring compressor; seventh, now would be a good time to replace the sway bar link if worn. Just unbolt the nut on top and drive bolt down with a hammer or use a hacksaw to cut through bolt and remove. Install spacers and washers as in picture and run nut down to end of threads on bolt and torque to13 ft. lbs. If replacing tie rod end place a mark-white line-on jam nut and on inner rod, you will line up marks on reassembly. Remove nut-yellow circle-from end of tie rod-green arrow-in picture the tie rod is already removed from knuckle-red x-note torn dust boot on tie rod. To remove tie rod from knuckle use a pickle fork.

Eighth, back off jam nut-white arrow-about 1/6 turn so that you can unscrew tie rod end. Remove old end and screw new end in until it just touches jam nut. Place tie rod end into knuckle and hand tighten nut on bottom end in knuckle. Tighten up jam nut making sure inner rod does not turn. Line on jam nut should now line up with line on inner rod. Remove nut on bottom of tie rod and move it aside for now. It will help give more room to install strut if it's not attached; Ninth, Position strut into place and hand tighten nuts and bolt on top. Line up bottom of strut with knuckle and start bolts into holes. Apply some anti seize to bolts and line up match marks and tap in with hammer. Do not apply too much force with hammer. When bolts are in place torque nuts to133 ft. lbs, top nuts and bolt to18 ft. lbs. Tenth, place tie rod end in knuckle and if using a castle nut torque to45 ft. lbs and install cotter pin. Replace wheel and get an alignment check soon.

By the way, do you know how to replace the center bearing?

Refresh the suspension bush for your car

If you want to replace the suspension bushing, you should learn the skill well because it needs more power, a vice or clamps, jack stands, a floor jack, a torque wrench, a flat head screwdriver, open end wrenches, something to catch gas, and a receptacle for brake fluid. In order to reach the suspension bushings, you must drop the whole suspension. Jack up the car, placing it securely on good jack stands. Place a floor jack in the middle of the beam under the suspension and jack it up to help support the weight. Once the car is dated, you can safely disconnect the shock absorbers near the bottom. Then, remove any related bolts so that the suspension can drop. Lower the suspension assembly and the jack slowly.

Suspension bush assembly will be on each side of the suspension ensemble. Fit an open wrench inside and a socket outside of the center bolt. Loosen the bolt well and pull it out. Take the suspension assembly inside its position. Hold the assembly in a vice, keeping it tightly constrained to your table. Hold the assembly in this way while you are pressing the bushing out. The old bushing will be very snug, so you will need to use a clamp to free it. Place the clamp on the outer edge. Place the clamp at a slight angle so that the clamp's end is just over the bushing. Turn the screw, pressing the worn suspension bushing out, same as the steering parts

Pay attention to the Sway bar link

Various kinds of sway bar end link available out there are going to let your car be much durable, but one of the simplest ways to improve your ride is to install a new rear sway bar link. It effectively connects both sides of the car’s suspension so that the rear of the car feels more connected to the rest of the car. This sort of upgrade is strictly to improve handling and suspension system. Here is a tip to change yours. Make sure that your rear suspension is under load, or this installation will be much harder. Besides, ensure enough space to work under the car for yourself and that you wear protective goggles or glasses to prevent debris from getting in your eyes.

Pay attention to the under of your car and be sure of that you have one installed. If not, you can skip the removal of the old and install the new one directly. First, find the points where the sway bar connects to the end links on your rear suspension. You should have something to break the screws loose and once that has soaked into the metal, you can attempt to remove the bolts. These should come out relatively easily and then you can work on removing the bar. Simply remove the bar by wiggling it past the exhaust and then you can work on installing the new one. If your new sway bar is bigger, it may take a little more work to fit it into place.

Once there, you should be able to work the bar into place and start to reattach the bolts. Once these have been put in, you should be able to tighten everything down and have the bar solidly in place. Test the new bar. Drive around your neighborhood, or better yet a deserted parking lot, and give the wheel a few hard turns. If everything feels like it is up to snuff, then you have successfully installed a new sway bar, otherwise you can take your car back and retighten all the bolts one more time, making sure not to strip them or break them off. The rear sway bar will help to induce a more neutral or oversteery feel for your car, depending on how large of a bar you install. It will also help to reduce the body roll and improve the handling as well as the part Driveshaft support.
